Acknowledgmentswhen
i was a teenager i spent a lot of time listening to rock records (music
pressed into 12" vinyl discs). as i rocked out i would read the liner
notes in the album sleeve. i always wanted to write a long,
stream of conscious thank you to anyone who mattered in my life. here's
my chance...
thanks to my wife, nancy, besides a camera, my most favorite traveling companion, always patiently waiting at the end of the street as i take one more picture of a tree reflected in a puddle...to my parents, alma and manuel, who bought me my first camera, a canon T70 SLR, my prized possession...my sister, angela, and brother, adrian, who always act surprised at their birthdays and Christmas when they receive yet another framed photo to hang on their walls...my sister-in-laws, amy and julie, who allow me to use their children as unwitting models...speaking of unwitting models, my college roommate, tim and his wife, jessica, for those late night experimental photography sessions...ok, that sounded less than innocent...to jen, for giving me the coolest black and white photo, yes, that one of you taken by your brother, and for turning me on to fugazi...to sara and stephanie, my dear friends who have been supportive of my creative efforts ever since we became friends in '87....to gene, who gave me his 17 volume Life Library of Photography and for proudly hanging my stuff on his office wall...to kathy, for the courage to hire me first, i only wish i had not parted with those original contact sheets...to aysha and phyllis for hiring me next, ten years later...to laura green, my one time partner in crime, who helped me decide wedding photography was not my thing..to my uncle ephraim, how i wish you could see how your photography inspired me....to david johndrow for always salvaging my negatives and creating wonderful black and white prints, but mostly for your kind words about my work...to brent adair whose enthusiasm for photography and my talent, from one artist to another, thank you for motivating me...my cousin, bea, who is one of the most creative and talented person i know...to raul, you are the other most creative and talented person i know...to matt a.k.a. the rusty brain, who advised me on web stuff and will some day take me four wheelin' in Moab...to ron roberts, who believes in me and has shown me it is never too late to live passionately for your dreams...to michael flahive, who nurtures the spiritual side to my photography...to michelle, who aspires to be the singular collector of my work...to lori, sorry "curtains" hangs in someone else's house too...to the Truman College darkroom lady wherever you are...anyone who has bought one of my photocards or has received a photocard and placed it prominently on a refrigerator or a bulletin board...to all the people who had no idea i was taking their photo..to my creative muses, some who often linger fondly, may you never leave my heart, your faithful friendship helps time stand still... |
